Base Change

With the release of the April 2025 Genetic Evaluations, the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding (CDCB) released an industry wide base change, a process that occurs every 5 years. Additionally, the NM$ and TPI formulas were adjusted to account for new economic values within the formulas.

At a glance, to compare the December 2024 genetic evaluations to April 2025, a +1300 NM$ animal would now be a +931 NM$ animal, a +3300 TPI animal would now be a +3385 TPI animal and a +200 CFP animal would now be a +140 CFP animal.

STgenetics® has broken down the changes and adjustments made within this base change. For a more detailed look at these revisions, visit here: https://www.stgen.com/article/article.aspx?language=english&code=13051
