STgenetics® is saddened to share the passing of Edg RUBICON-ET. RUBICON was a patriarch sire for STgenetics® who grew to be an international sensation that represented trust, reliability and consistency for dairy breeders. He made a global impact with his strong production profile and high components.
“RUBICON was a standout from the beginning and as one of the first sires available in gender-sorted semen, he helped prove the value of this innovative technology to the global market,” Juan F Moreno, STgen™ CEO & Founder stated. “He was a favorite of the STgenetics® sire care team that will be greatly missed by all of us. Congratulations to his breeders on providing us with such a monumental sire, thank you to the sire team for his everyday care and developing him to full potential and thank you to the breeders who believed in his genetic profile making him a global leader.”
As a former #1 TPI and NM$ sire, RUBICON was one of the initial sires to prove the power of genomics. He came to STgenetics® with the promise of his genomic package and solidified his lasting legacy in his proven results. With over 38,000 daughters in over 6,200 herds, RUBICON is still dominant today in his age group being the top NM$ sire with greater than 30,000 daughters included in progeny proofs. RUBICON was also the first sire in the industry to achieve 500,000 doses of gender-sorted semen sold and was a leading EcoFeed® sire being one of the first to lead the way in sustainability and profitability through Feed Conversion Efficiency.
RUBICON played an instrumental role in shaping the industry’s adoption of gender-sorted semen, as he was one of the first bulls of the industry to be released in only female gender-sorted semen. This offering proved to be profitable and sustainable to dairy farmers around the world and now has become the industry standard.
